Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva has examined constructive for the coronavirus, a spokesman for his division confirmed Tuesday.
Sheriff’s Division spokesman Captain Lorena Rodriguez informed The Instances that Villanueva was in good spirits.
She didn’t verify whether or not the sheriff, who has been vaccinated, was euthanized or mentioned how he contracted the virus.
In February, the LA County Board of Supervisors shifted the COVID-19 vaccine mandate enforcement tasks away from Villanueva, who repeatedly mentioned he wouldn’t take away vaccination refusal duties.
The sheriff, in search of re-election, has repeatedly criticized the mandate, claiming that implementing it will result in a “mass escape” from the drive.
In lieu of a mandate, Villanueva required non-vaccinated staff to take weekly coronavirus exams and threatened indiscipline to staff in the event that they refused to share their vaccination standing.
After a decent main race, the sheriff is headed for a runoff in November towards retired Lengthy Seaside Police Chief Robert Luna, who trailed Villanueva by almost 5 proportion factors.
